Available Weather Datasets
Description: This dataset is made available through the Meteorological Forecast prognostic service of the Cyprus Department of Meteorology (DoM). The service was developed by DoM in cooperation with The Cyprus Institute. The datasets are available in TXT format and give a weather forecast horizon of five days. Forecasts are produced with high resolution (2 km) meteorological model (WRF) which is much more detailed than other systems that until recently was used in Cyprus and the region. The model is run in the CyTerra supercomputer infrastructure of the Cyprus Institute.

Description: DREAMCLIMATE dataset for period of 01/01/2013 - 31/12/2013. It includes data for aerosol optical thickness and surface dust concentration produced by Dust REgional Atmospheric Model (DREAM). Model integration area covered wide North Africa, Southern Europe and Middle East regions in 30km horizontal resolution with 28 vertical levels.

Description: We performed simulations for the Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment project (CORDEX) over the Middle East / North Africa domain. We used the Weather, Research and Forecasting model (WRF v3.6.1) as a climate downscaling tool. For this phase we have dynamically downscaled a bias corrected version of the CESM1 global Earth System Model (https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds316.1/). We used a standard CORDEX-PHASE I horizontal resolution of 50 km, while on the verical the model was set on 30 levels with a top at 50 hPa. Future climate projections are under the RCP 8.5 scenario. For the moment, surface temperature data covering four decades of the recent past, present, mid-21st and end of 21st century are available. All simulations were performed in the Cy-Tera HPC facility hosted by The Cyprus Institute. More technical information can be found in the metadata file.
